3 WAYS TO FIGHT FOR WHAT YOU LOVE
(AND GET IT!)

After a grueling move into the new Holistic Fashionista headquarters, one with a kitchen to support the growth of my new botanical collection, it got me thinking about just how far one must go to get what it is they desire.

I desired a new space that would make building this new area of Holistic Fashionista easier, but I also had to fight to make it come alive.

Sure, sometimes you don’t need to fight for what you want, because it’s handed on a silver platter, but if you’re anything like me, I value the end result a lot more if I had to give a piece of my soul in order to have it.

I’m pretty sure this is what are called growing pains. Whether you’re looking for a soulmate, discovering your life purpose, or finding that home that speaks to your heart, finding and getting what you love is a song and dance.

Sometimes the song is slow and sensual, and other times it shakes you to the core bleeding out the tears— but for those who are not willing to settle for anything less that pure love, you’re going to experience a few growing pains, which are usually just the Universe’s way of making sure you’re ready for that kind of joy.

So how do you know if you’re really ready to receive all that you desire and love? It’s a matter of degree of how bad you’d like to attain it. If you’re not willing to fight for that love, do you truly deserve it? That my friend, is the burning question.

Here are 3 ways to help you not only fight for what you love, but help you ease the growing pains to acquiring it:

1) FIND THE SILVER LINING
We’ve all been heartbroken in the past (or at least those of us who actually had the guts to put our heart on the line), which is to be expected when you’re looking to find what/who it is you love. Yes, there will most likely be tears and yes there could be a couple screams, but what happens after the storm has past is the ability to reflect and find the silver lining

If you can’t find the silver lining and you’ve managed to forget about it quickly, perhaps it wasn’t true love in the first place. Yet, just because you can’t find the silver lining immediately, doesn’t mean it’s not en route. The idea here is to make sure you’re open to it. Love can be a beast of a teacher, but it’s only because it wants to make sure you enjoy every second of it-- once it becomes yours.

2) SURRENDER
I definitely hit rock bottom during our big move (if I told you all the horrible things that went wrong during this transition, I swear you wouldn’t even believe me), yet the only thing I could do was throw my arms up in the air and surrender. This can be an incredibly difficult thing to do when your heart desire’s something so deeply.

Our desire to control the situation or hold on so tight that you literally can’t breathe is really just a defense mechanism and let’s be honest, you can’t control the magic workings of the Universe!

Surrendering means to put your love into the hands of energy and truly believe that the Universe will deliver to you a result even more victorious than you could ever image during your controlling tantrums. It doesn’t matter how much you try to control, the only way to truly acquire what it is you desire is to surrender.

However, that doesn’t mean you give up hope or stop fighting for what you love. It just means that the fight is now in the hands of surrender, where it can be nurtured properly. Surrendering means you let the Universe fight it out for you! And what a relief it is when you finally do.

3) TAKE THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED
You want something so badly, that it’s literally created butterflies in your stomach, despair in your heart, and over-analyzation in your brain, what do you do then? You take the road less traveled.

When we love, we love from a part of our soul that most often has been dormant for quite some time, so getting our emotions under control becomes the big battle, but I have discovered a new way to handle those worries, by doing something you’ve never done before.

Taking the road less traveled means you don’t keep beating down the same door. It will only make you feel more insane when you realize that same door won’t open no matter how many tugs and knocks you give it. You can try a new key or you can kick and scream, but the only thing that is going to do is continue to drive yourself nuts!

So instead of checking yourself into an insane asylum (just go re-watch season 2 of American Horror Story, and you’ll scare yourself out of banging down a door that won’t open ever again), why not try a new path all together.

This could be finding a different door, squeezing through a side window, or hell, it could even mean busting out a 28’ ladder and climbing 3 stories, hopping over the balcony, and opening the sliding glass door (I shit you not, this happened during my move). The goal is just to find a different path.

Fighting for what you love is worth it, even if i feels like you won’t survive the pain. I assure you the rewards far outweigh the burden.

It’s only a shame that the majority of humans don’t fight for what they love: they stay in loveless relationships or marriages, they settle for a career that is unsatisfying, or they fear change, which makes it impossible to acquire the love(s) they truly desire.

It really makes my heart break to see so many walking souls not fighting for what they love, but I must admit, if they are not willing to fight for it, then they shouldn’t be sad when it never shows up, or worse it leaves them. If you don’t fight for what you love, then you don’t deserve to have it. It’s plain and simple.

We were each given the gift of free will, it’s up to us to decide what we will decide to do with it.
