GET HEALTHIER HAIR WITH HEMP OIL
Article by Fanesia Vienna
As a professional hairstylist who has worked in the industry for a decade, I have used and experienced many different hair products in the industry. As I grew into a more Holistic lifestyle, I began to get more sensitive with all of the artificial ingredients and perfumes that are in most hair products. As I started to go down the path of natural hair and beauty products a few years ago on a personal level, I learned that a holistic hair approach is the way to go.
There are so many hair products out there filled with additives, preservatives, toxic perfumes, waxes and fillers. I finally realized that having healthy hair and scalp can be achieved with all natural ingredients. As I started developing sensitivities to perfumes and added fragrances in hair products, I started making my own hair oils with essential oils as a natural fragrance.
While there are so many different types of oils that are great for the hair and scalp, I found Hemp oil to be the most impressive.
Hemp oil can give you healthier, stronger, shinier hair without all of those added artificial ingredients found in most hair products that you can't even pronounce. Hemp oil is from the cannabis plant, but has none of the psycho active components of THC. It is made by cold pressing the hemp seeds.
So what is this magical oil about?
Here are 3 key benefits for using hemp oil for the hair and scalp:
1.) HEMP OIL STRENGTHENS AND STIMULATES HAIR GROWTH
Hemp oil is rich in omega 6 and 3 fatty acids, vitamin D and E all necessary for hair growth.
Massaging the oil into the scalp will stimulate blood flow creating circulation to the scalp promoting hair growth. It's also anti- inflammatory which is great in managing conditions like dry or oily scalp. This all creates a beautiful balance and harmony in the scalp and hair.
2.) HEMP OIL PREVENTS BREAKAGE
Hot tools and color treatments can really dry out the hair, so to prevent breakage from heat styling simply apply a few drops of hemp oil and rub in hands and lightly glide over strands of hair as a barrier before using a curling, or flat iron. These hot tools can get very hot so make sure to not let the iron get over 300-350 degrees, because nobody wants hair that feels like horse hay, so always protect your hair as a delicate fiber.
3.) HEMP MOISTURIZES
During color treatments you can add a few drops of hemp oil to your hair color for added moisture and nourishment.
After styling hair you can also use a few drops for added shine to reduce frizz.
In closure I want to leave you with a simple DIY detangling spray recipe I use in the salon that will help detangle your hair and leave you smelling like a mystical goddess.
1. Fill any 4 oz spray mist bottle with water (filtered or spring best)
2. add 2 drops of hemp oil ( 3-4 if hair is super dry and coarse )
3. add 2 drops of lavender, 1 drop of patchouli, 1 drop of Palo Santo, 1 drop of clove
4. Gently shake and use ( shake every time you use )
5. Spray onto hair
