Soul Reporting: A Devotional Practice to Unlock Inspired Action

Reporting to your soul is like reporting to a boss, a teacher or anyone you find yourself giving a status update to accomplish something like a task or bigger project. Usually, when one requires a status - there is some thought that is provoked before reporting back to the receiver. The receiver is usually a partner in the project at hand. However, do you take the time to update your soul? Reporting to your soul allows one to be magnetic to their true north. Reporting to your soul is a heart centric practice that may be considered and accomplished on a daily basis, but anytime would be fine too. We report to our phones by the hour...wouldn't it be worth considered reporting to our soul just as much? Below are 3 daily ways to consider when reporting to your soul.

1 :: Give direction with devotion.

Let it be a mantra, a positive thought, a word, verse or course. Whichever devotional practice you participate in, let it lead your day. When you wake up in the morning try beginning with 1-2 minutes where you can just sit and be with the thought before you do anything at all. Do this immediately after you rise out of bed, look at the phone or brush your teeth. Soul first. A daily devotional practice sets the tone for your spirit to connect mind and heart. It's a signal for your day's journey. Allow yourself to begin this practice by committing to a short amount of time each morning and if your schedule allows you to begin to add more time to this practice you may allow it. The devotional words/thoughts are at the top of your report every day.

2 :: Use certainty as a source to amplify.

Type out, draw, paint or collage the word C E R T A I N T Y. Make several copies of it, cut it out and keep a stack of mini's in your closet. With each outfit you put on every day, grab this piece of paper and put it in your pocket. Like a card of business - you give yourself as an agreement to connect with throughout the day. There are so many times we go about our days and the slightest thing could turn us into an unconscious state of fear, worry or doubt - especially with the uncertainty of these times. This happens to all of us, but your heart will thank you for getting into a habit to powerfully nudge uncertainty aside. Uncertainty brings less solutions - so choose the partner of certainty. Remember you will have it's card in your pocket - so you can always access it. The hope is to bring your awareness around certainly into a container to hold and share with your soul. Ultimately, this will bring more connections to unlock inspired action with you everyday.

3 :: Embrace all emotional states.

A way to include emotions into your report might feel good in a form of prayer at the end of the day, but if you are not comfortable with prayer you could write this as a letter to yourself instead. The point is that you spend time with your feelings and bring them to the report. Name the feelings you felt throughout the day. Communicating this will help your soul unleash powers to higher levels. It is best to also recognize when you claimed your feelings out loud to another person/thing that day. If you felt something and didn't express it to another, name this too. List all feelings by the day. Imagine each of them as a line to you. The report should aim to call upon times of emotion and bring them to your attention.

Example prayer/letter: Dear (your name), Today you felt (feeling) when (action) happened and you shared this with (name/thing) and it made them feel (feeling). Conclude the prayer or letter with any needs/wants around the feeling.

If you find yourself at a loss for feelings at the end of the day, it is suggested to flip a dictionary and randomly select a word that is a feeling. Reflect and journal about the feeling. Write what comes to mind. Past, present or future...actual or fantasy. This will deepen your soul’s knowledge on feelings and the meanings behind them. There are said to be as many as 27 felt feelings in human potential - unlocking them is like a hide and seek game for your soul's destiny.

Soul reporting is an approach to commune with your soul. A reporting structure works in other fields and these examples for the soul will ultimately awaken you with more purpose and creativity. When you begin to report to your soul, the signals and signs that you are doing well with the work will come back to you. To become a strong witness in the practice of reporting to your soul and the connection with it - you may try to track the signs as they come to you throughout your day with a double tap to your heart or even better - a wink of an eye...this will signal back to your minds eye that you are making the right moves in your daily soul reporting. Keep in mind you can always change and create a customized report suitable for inspiration and spirit. Just don’t over think it - reports are simple and they include intelligence in action. A soul source.
