Article by Heather Rae Mitchell

Magazine: Issue #18

1| The Not So Little Black Dress

This is your WOW piece, a simple dress that fits your curves in all the right places. Get away from wearing the little black dress and try a bold pink with a simple and subtle pattern or a stunning red. This would be perfect for holiday and party style.

The Right Shape - Find your smallest part and let the dress show off your curves.

The Right Size - If the fit is too tight or too loose it can be unflattering. The goal is to show off your body’s strongest  features.

2| The Perfect Legging

Nothing is worse than feeling uncomfortable in the clothing you’re wearing during long travel and late nights with family and friends. The perfect legging can add comfort while being flattering and stylish.

Length – You want to make sure the legging isn’t too short. A good universal legging should come to your ankle and be slim enough to wear a boot with. Having a zipper at the ankle is always a great option and allows you to wear the legging with flats as well as boots.

Material - Make sure the legging is thick enough and not transparent when stretched over your body, but be careful it isn’t too thick where you feel like your wearing scuba gear.

Height on the Waist - An important goal is to always make sure that you are flattering your body. Make sure it hits a flattering part on your body.

3| The Flattering Universal Neutral Color Sweater

Staying warm and comfortable while finding a sweater that flatters your figure. the figure friendly sweater is an essential for winter style! Look for a sweater that is a little oversized yet structured to maintain your body shape is perfect to pair with leggings and can be styled as a layer over a dress.

4| BOOTS! BOOTS! BOOTS!

A simple boot can take versatility in wardrobe packing a long way. Look for something that is simple, color universal, metal neutral (not too flashy) and flattering for your legs.

5| Accessories

It is important to keep your luggage light. Packing simple basics and bringing different accessories will keep your traveling holiday style as versatile as possible.

Layers - Some pieces that layer are rings, necklaces and stackable bracelets. These are items that can be easily broken down and layered or stacked to create a different look.

Large Statement Pieces - Transform neutral clothing pieces in to eye-catching styles.

The Art of Exfoliation: 3 Tips to Obtain Glowing Skin

THE ART OF EXFOLIATION: 3 TIPS TO OBTAIN GLOWING SKIN

Obtain Glowing Skin

Obtain Glowing Skin

Article by Leah Vautrot

Magazine: Issue #18

Just as a snake sheds it's skin, we must shed our past over and over again. - Buddha

Whether or not this is an actual Buddha quote, shedding your skin and the past decisions you've made that affected it is necessary.  Exfoliation is often touted as a simple way to purify pores, combat aging and clear up skin. While exfoliation does achieve these results many people over exfoliate and exacerbate their skin issues or create new ones in the pursuit of clear, youthful skin. Done properly exfoliation can reveal a more radiant you. Here are our tips for perfect exfoliation.

WHEN should you be exfoliating?

2 to 3 times a week. Every day is too much. Exfoliation should gently remove the build up of dead skin cells and promote balanced oil production for a glowing complexion.  Excessive exfoliation causes your skin to play catch up creating excess oil and possible breakouts, redness could also appear. Too little exfoliation and skin can appear dry and lackluster. Your face should never hurt afterwards and if you're exfoliating and still breaking out it's likely you need to scale back the days that you exfoliate.

HOW should you exfoliate?

Start with moistened skin and using your fingertips gently rub in a counterclockwise motion. The key to any facial product application is upward strokes. Complete the counterclockwise movement while scrubbing no more than 3 times before moving to the next area of your face. Be sure to steer clear of the delicate eye area.

Holistic Fashionista magazine

WHAT ingredients should you be exfoliating with?

There are many wonderful natural ingredients to be used for exfoliation. You can easily DIY with a very fine salt (powder fine) mixed with raw honey for normal to oily skin. Brown sugar and olive oil is another great DIY gentle exfoliant for normal skin. A facial scrub using nuts or oats or both is a very lubricating scrub for dry skin, like our Small Batch Face Scrub.

Congratulations you are now well versed in the Art of Exfoliation. Go forth and shed.

How To Build Your Personal Brand in 3 Steps

Build Your Personal Brand

Build Your Personal Brand

HOW TO BUILD YOUR PERSONAL BRAND IN 3 STEPS

Article by Jen McCaldon
Philosophy of People
Magazine: Issue #18

A brand is more than a name or a logo, a brand represents someone’s dreams a cause a promise not just a product or a business, if you’re a reading this is because you are ready to build your Personal Brand and if you are not yet doing so, don’t assure anyone is doing it for you, this is a “Brand-You World” everything around us represents someone, question is: do you know what you represent?

Here we go…

Step #1 Find Your Why

You might have heard people talking about their “Big Why”, and you a re like: What the hake is my why? So here is an easier question. What do you stand for? Someone said ones “if you stand for nothing you fall for anything” so what is your big picture? You vision? The cocktail of passion and purpose that makes you stay awake all night? That’s your big why. Once you have this clear you are ready to go…here is a couple of questions you might find useful:

  • What do you do?
  • Who do you do it for?
  • And WHY this makes you Unique?
Wealth Building Videos

Step #2 Develop a Brand Plan

Plan your strategy, you know “who fails to plan plans to fail” is not only knowing what you are doing and where you want to go, what will take you there but also being super clear at what you are NOT going to do, what will help a lot when building your personal brand and sharing your value.

Big tip: Be consistent with your vision and strategy, when you are planning your brand strategy. Build a follower that connects with your message and trust your identity (that was two tips actually).

Step #3 Be Yourself

Everyone else is already taken… Self-promotion is about self-differentiation, stand-up, Be Bold, Be YOU, ain’t  no need to reinvent the wheal, unless you really want to. There is the possibility that whatever you’re doing right now, someone is doing the same or very similar, we are The Millennials (the remix era).

Create awareness, show The World who YOU Truly are and what you stand for.

Show the world you are trust worthy; deliver value and skills that will give you the experience to represent your brand and your tribe. And one more thing, Allow change to help you evolve

7 Inspired Steps: Exhibit Your Art in the Perfect Places

Exhibit Your Art

Exhibit Your Art

7 INSPIRED STEPS: EXHIBIT YOUR ART IN THE PERFECT PLACES

Article by Jessica Serran
Philosophy of People
Magazine: Issue #18

I used to believe that getting art into exhibitions involved endless lists of unpleasant activities - schmoozing, filling out calls for entries and waiting for the rejection letters to come.

I used to believe that there must be some elite, secret formula.

And then it happened - the most perfect opportunities showed up once I stopped doing what I thought I had to.There is in fact a magic formula...

7 inspired steps to exhibiting your art in the perfect places.

Step 1 : Clarify your vision!

We often walk around thinking, “I want to exhibit my work”, but that’s as general as saying “I want to get a haircut.” You need to clarify how you want it to look, feel and how it aligns with your work. The universe responds to clear, well-defined requests.

Step 2 :  How do you want the exhibition to feel?

What we’re really after, in addition to exposure, sales, recognition is how we want all of these things to make us feel.
Close your eyes for a few minutes each day and picture yourself in this space. What are you feeling? What are you saying? Who’s around you?

Luxury Business

Step 3 : Admit your fears.

Showing our work can scare the pants off us. Our fears are hiding out trying to stop the show from ever happening. Write down a list of all of your fears – even if they seem silly and far-fetched.

Step 4 : Decide on your non-negotiables.

It's time to get concrete. How big of a space? Where will it be? What are you absolutely unwilling to do? Decide this now so when opportunities arise you'll be able to determine what's right for you.

Step 5 : Map it out.

Make a list all of the things that need to happen. Doing this will pave the way for inspiration and take you out of total overwhelm.

Step 6 : Brainstorm!

List every possible venue you can think of from conventional galleries to site-specific locations, your living room, coffee shops, etc. Take off all the limiters!

Step 7 : Take intuitive action.

Listen to your intuition! Do you suddenly have the urge to contact that curator you once met? One of my best shows arose because I heeded the intuitive call to pop into a gallery one afternoon. The rest was history.

Before we get external results we have to do the internal work. This is the magic formula.

Secrets of the Most Polished and Powerful Brands in Demand

SECRETS OF THE MOST POLISHED AND POWERFUL BRANDS IN DEMAND

Polished and Powerful Brands in Demand

Polished and Powerful Brands in Demand

Article by Sherry Mirshahi-Totten
Philosophy of People
Magazine: Issue #18

You’re ready for that next big milestone in your business whether that’s (finally) writing a book, speaking on bigger stages, serving wider audiences, or just getting more publicity.  In other words, you’re ready to become a true Brand in Demand.  Brands in Demand in all industries have one thing in common:  they are packaged as influencers who know and follow the right branding principles that get them visibility.  Learn the top secrets of  three of the best influencers below.

Beyonce

Here’s what Beyonce does so well:  she knows how to capture the mind and heart of her audience.  She released a documentary where she candidly discusses her miscarriage, her love for music and even her marriage.  She keeps an active page on the social media site, Tumblr, where she shares private family pictures.  She creates songs that are empowering and moving.  She aligns herself with other powerful people (including the President himself and Oprah).  She knows how to capture her audience through her words and actions.

Kim Kardashian

No matter what you think of Kim or her decisions, one thing is certain: She is very clear on her personal brand and lives it consistently.  She’s known for her flawless makeup so she discusses products she loves during interviews and she shares makeup tips. She started her own makeup line (along with her sisters). She knows that many see her as attractive so she wears clothing that accentuates her body.  She takes sexy pictures of herself and shares them freely on social media.

Holistic Fashionista magazine

Oprah

Oprah knew early on what she believed in and got involved in initiatives that reflected those values. She believes in education so she started her own book club and she created a leadership academy for girls in South Africa. She believes in giving back so she had an Angel Network that encouraged charitable actions and she consistently gives to multiple charities. She believes in spirituality and shows it by partnering with Deepak Chopra for 21-day meditation challenges.  Her magazine also has articles on spiritual topics.

Each of these celebrities demonstrates some of the key principles of being an influencer.  Now it’s up to you to use these secrets in your own business so you too can be known as a polished Brand in Demand!

3 Keys to Creating a Lifestyle Business You Crave

3 KEYS TO CREATING A LIFESTYLE BUSINESS YOU CRAVE

Create a Lifestyle Business You Crave

Create a Lifestyle Business You Crave

Article by Tiffany Lanier
Philosophy of People
Magazine: Issue #18

Oh the Internet!

It has created a world of possibilities for so many entrepreneurs looking to create a Life & Business they love. We can share our expertise and really take what we know from local to global. Yet when starting out, creating the perfect lifestyle business does not seem as easy as some make it out to be.

We often get stuck on the tech. We don’t create clear offerings. We dedicate a lot of time and effort to non-income producing activities. And before we know it, 6 months to a year has gone by and we haven’t created the income we desire let alone the lifestyle we crave. Frustration kicks in, throwing in the towel seems like a valid option, and you’ve begun to reconsider if online entrepreneurship is really your thing.

But before you throw in the towel, let’s break down the 3 keys of what you really need to create the Lifestyle Business you crave:

Create.

What do you really want out of your life and business? This is about you. Don’t create based on what you see others doing. Often times we look at other people succeed and we think to ourselves we should emulate them in order to have what we want. But in reality what they’ve created may not work for you based on your personality and interest.

This is your time to really brainstorm. What does your ideal work life look like and what types of business models cater to your authentic self and the lifestyle you desire?

Wealth Building Videos

Package.

After you’ve created, it’s time to package what you have to sell. There are a lot of people doing e-courses but that may not be your thing. Perhaps you rather work with clients somewhere exotic and have a day of coaching and strategy. Package your offerings in a way that allows you and your clients to thrive and continue to keep in mind the lifestyle you crave.

Market.

After you have created what you want and you’ve packaged it, you’re ready to market. Without marketing you don’t have a business. Get clear on your customer avatar and your marketing message. You’re not speaking to everyone thus your marketing efforts don’t have to be everywhere either. Be strategic, create systems, and stop wasting time on marketing strategies that don’t work.

Last tip: Keep it simple and keep it focused.

7 Keys to a Successful Shopping Season

7 KEYS TO A SUCCESSFUL SHOPPING SEASON

Article by Shannon Martin
Philosophy of People
Magazine: Issue #18

As we welcome the beginning of the holiday shopping season, ask yourself what you can do differently this year to keep sane. I could suggest organization, early planning and my mother’s favorite: shopping early! But unfortunately there are those like myself who wait for Black Friday and Cyber Monday to get into the holiday shopping spirit, only to regret that I hadn’t shopped earlier after hours of waiting in line.

Being in the gift basket industry, I’ve learned the importance of planning months ahead to keep from burning out during the holiday season. It’s very difficult to run a gifting business, run your household and have them both in good standing at the end of the year. If you are to survive any holiday season you should have a plan or idea of how to make holiday shopping as stress free as possible.

Here are a few tips that can help you survive this holiday season:

1| If you don’t have a shopping date in mind, get one! It is always best to plan a specific date or weekend to complete your shopping.

2| Create a gifting list and stick to it! Shopping becomes more streamlined once you create your shopping list.

3| If you are waiting for the holiday sales like Black Friday and Cyber Monday, make sure to get the sales papers early and subscribe to your favorite online retailers for updates on sales and coupon codes.

Holistic Fashionista magazine

4| Plan out your shopping route! This saves time, money and gas.

5| Prepare your mind for crowds, long lines and cranky people! This way we won’t see you on ‘Snapped’!

6| Have a budget set in place. How important is this? My husband would say “VERY!” You don’t want to break the bank during the holidays. Plus it’s never fun singing the shoulda-woulda-coulda Blues.

7| Be realistic. If you order a gift basket or anything online late, keep in mind that items may not be in stock due to high demand. Turnaround times may be passed set shipping dates and your gifts will not be delivered on time. Or if delivery is possible, be prepared to pay a hefty fee for expedited shipping!

Happy Shopping!

5 Keys for Living Magic & Manifesting an Epic Life…Now!

5 KEYS TO LIVING MAGIC & MANIFESTING AN EPIC LIFE NOW!

Living Magic & Manifesting an Epic Life

Living Magic & Manifesting an Epic Life

Article by Amber Campion
Philosophy of People
Magazine: Issue #18

One of my favorite quotes by Rumi is “What You Are Seeking is also Seeking You.”

It sends chills down my spine every time I read this because it reminds me of the magic that is all around us (that most of us have simply forgotten). It reminds me that Living Magic is possible everyday and it’s more practical and easier to unleash this essence in your life than you may think.

Below are 5 keys for Living Magic….Now!

Step 01. CLARITY

Get Clear on your vision - what you truly want. Move from mind FULL to mindful by creating space to explore your deepest desires. It will be hard to see your life lighting up with synchronicity (magic) without this process.

Step 02. COMMITMENT

Once you become clear about your desire, it is important to understand why you want this in the first place. Ask yourself, “What would having this or achieving this do for me?”

When you connect with your deeper why it transmutes your desire into a must and compels you to still ‘go get yours’ and not just give up when the ‘going gets tough.’

Wealth Building Videos

Step 03. COMMUNITY

This is about support.

We are highly influenced by our tribe. Calling in community that supports your aspirations will play a major role in creating lasting magic in your life. If you are not supported (or worse, made fun of) by your peers with regards to your vision it will be hard to rise up and see it unfold.

Step 04. COURAGE

Simply put, raise your standards.

Align your life with your values & vision. If you aren't living within integrity to your values & vision then aligning to a truly magical life will feel more like a struggle than a co-creation.

If you value health, but eat junk food all the time, then you are living out of alignment. If you value respect, but you are in a relationship with someone who continually dis-respects you, then you are living out of alignment.

Step 05. CONSISTENCY

Showing up once in awhile for yourself will not open the door to living magic. This is why creating rituals is so important.

Reviewing and feeling your desires every single day is what it takes to co-create. This in turn creates momentum and will opens doors that you may have not noticed before.
