Understanding Intuition and the Feeling Body

How important is it to follow our own internal guidance?

Sensing our feeling body and our own intuition will allow for us to live a happy fulfilled life.

Intuition exists in all of us, whether we acknowledge it or not, or choose to listen to it. It is a process that gives us the ability to know something directly without analytic reasoning. It bridges the gap between the conscious and non-conscious parts of our mind, and also between instinct and reason.

Our Intuition works by drawing on our past experiences, and when we have to make a “quick” decision about whether something is real or fake, feels good or feels bad, right or wrong, we draw on these experiences.  It all happens, outside our conscious awareness. Our intuition comes in in an instant, it “pops in” through a thought, feeling, knowing and even seeing.

Once our intuition has quickly popped in and out, we then have another response system that is slower to respond. It’s more analytical and it comes from our conscious. It often is fear based or what we can call ego. We often let ego and fear take the front seat. We “think” about the situation rather than “feeling” what we need from a soul level.

When we get that “gut feeling”, our emotion and intuition have a physical presence telling us what feels right or wrong. We’ll feel it in our belly, throat and it will give us goosebumps, send a shiver down our spine, make our heart race and quicken our breath, it will give us that knowing thought, or we may feel heavy if it is something that doesn’t serve us to keep us safe or on the path that serves us the most.

Feeling our body and what it is telling us, strengthens our intuitive muscle. When something is right – it will feel clear, nourishing and enriching. We may also feel a lightness in our body.  When something is off or doesn’t serve us, we may feel heavy or an uneasy feeling in our body. Developing our intuition is developing trust in oneself and in our intuitive capabilities. It allows us to truly follow a joyful path when we listen to it.

When we are starting to strengthen our intuition, we should start small with immediate gratifications. It is important to keep in mind what we feel, see and know during these exercises. Some good examples are; when we are meeting someone use our intuition to tell us what color of shirt they are wearing. Or when someone is calling, who “pops” in to our awareness? Hold a piece of fruit and ask, “Will this serve my body in what it needs”? Which lane has an empty parking spot in a busy parking lot? It is endless on what we can do to test and strengthen our intuition.

Another great exercise is to sit quietly and feel our body and think about a choice we have to make. Think of the 1st choice, what is our body telling us? What is our knowing? Take our time and just feel. Next think of a 2nd choice, and do the same. What is our body telling us? What is our knowing?  When we quiet our mind and be in the moment the awareness is there.

There are many simple exercises we can do.

Do you ever wonder why sometimes your intuition is bang on and sometimes it isn’t?

Negative emotions will cloud intuition, which is why when we are angry or depressed bad decisions can happen so easily. You make better intuitive choices when you are in a positive mood as compared to when you are in a negative mood.

Intuition and Our Environment:

The more information we are able to gather from the environment, the more accurate our intuition will be to accurately inform us of the best decisions for our journey. Feeling the energy when we walk into a room and see what it is telling us is a great example.  Then step back and observe, and look and seek the answers to acknowledge what our intuition has already told us.

Tuning into our body is the biggest gift we can give ourselves for a joyous, abundant life.
